CityTeam Search Crew responds to Tragic Car Accident
November 6th, 2008
CityTeam is called upon in disaster situations from hurricanes to tornadoes and floods, but this time we were able to respond to a personal crisis.
On Saturday, November 1st the Uaisele family was traveling home on the Hegenberger Expressway in Oakland, CA and was hit by a large sedan. Their car was pushed upon an embankment and flipped into a channel that ran parallel to the road. The driver (father) was killed and his 10-month infant disappeared under the water.
CityTeam employee, Wade Hess, had a relationship with this family and after hearing the tragic news he quickly formed a disaster response crew to help search for the missing infant.
After authorities called off the search for the missing infant on Tuesday, November 4th the CityTeam search crew kept looking. The team was miraculously able recover the deceased infant late on Thursday evening, giving the Uaisele family peace in that they would be able put their child to rest.
CityTeam Provides Assistance to Hurricane Victims
Partner with us by donating or volunteering today
The 2008 Hurricane season is above normal this year and the National Hurricane Center has raised the total number of named storms and hurricanes that may form. One after another they roll into the Gulf Coast and threaten communities.
CityTeam volunteers have been on the ground in Bay St. Louis helping families rebuild their lives and homes since the first week of Hurricane Katrina and have continued to provide assistance to families after Hurricane Gustav hit their already damaged homes.
Our relief teams are now on the ground in San Leon, Texas helping the residents rebuild after Hurricane Ike devastated their community. Teams are also working to restore Maranatha Church of San Leon to an inhabitable state, enabling it to be a center of relief for volunteers and the struggling San Leon community.
Faithful volunteers are serving with us and have been stretched thin to help the many victims. We are in desperate need of additional volunteers that are able to quickly respond to disaster zones.
We stretch every dollar to help thousands of disaster victims. We are the agency that people can count on to provide long-term help in the rebuilding process. Will you help us care for those who have lost everything to these disasters?
